Questions about worship…

Who may attend worship? Anyone is welcome to attend our worship services. We love to share the wonderful news of God’s love and forgiveness.
Where is St. John’s located? St. John’s is located in the center of Sparta. You can find us at the corner of Myrtle and Jefferson. Click here to be taken to our “Location and Map” page for detailed directions to St. John’s.
Where is the entrance to church? Our main entrance is under the canopy on the west of end of the parking lot opposite Jefferson St. We have handicapped accessibility at those doors. There is also an entrance on Jefferson St. just to the left of the church.
What is the worship service like? We think of worship as a conversation with God. We bring our troubles to him and he tells us what he has done for us as well as what he will continue to do for us. We use a variety of formats with music both old and new to give people from every generation ways to talk and listen to the Lord. A normal service will last about one hour.
How much does it cost to worship? Absolutely nothing. We exist to share what we have. Our members give their offerings so that we can continue to share the good news of forgiveness in Christ Jesus. When the offering plates are passed, it is an opportunity to support the continuing message we proclaim.
What should I wear? The important thing is not what you wear. We are glad to welcome you and to share the great things God has done for you, no matter what you wear.
How will I follow along with worship? In the fellowship hall there will be bulletins readily avaliable to take. In this bulletin, you will find the directions for worship. It will reference a hymnal which will be located right in front of every seat in the church. In this hymnal you will find the order of service in the front, and the hymns in the back.
For Your Convenience… Handicapped Accessiblity: Our main entrance, located under the canopy between the church and school, is equiped with motorized doors. Nursery: Our beautiful nursery is located in the back of church. We have a closed circuit TV system that carries the worship service. Anyone is welcome to use this room when their children become restless. Large Print Hymnals: We offer large print editions of our service. Everything one needs to participate in the worship service is in these binders.
